CHURCH MAGAZINE – DECEMBER 2016
Father Nicholas spoke about the recent USA elections and how upsetting it had been conducted with numerus bad words spoken by both sides. He had also received a letter from Beacon House thanking us for the generous donation of food and clothing.
Advent is upon us and our church is bare of flowers but we look forward to adorning the church once again at Christmas. Sadly they cost more at the festival times, so any donations would be welcomed.
Friends of All Saints
On October 30th we held our All Souls Commemoration of the Faithful Departed Service. It was to be one of the poignant services of the year. It was also the first time that we could remember our late friend Richard who died Christmas 2015.
News from Stanway Green Lodge
Recent functions had been held and these included a firework display. Also the times of the past were remembered when prices were as low as 2d to 6d. Cynthia recently held a knitting afternoon and everyone wore poppies on Armistice Day. There were also art and craft afternoons held.
Life at Iceni Academy
The children were now back at school for the Autumn term and some had been to the Thriftwood Scout Camp in Brentwood. On October 14th fundraising had been done for Military Charities.
