JULY 2019 MAGAZINE
From the vicar
This was going to be the vicar’s last letter in this parish as officially his last day was 30th June, but he has been given permission to attend service up and on 14th July. This brings to an end over fourteen and half years in the parish of Shrub End. This sees a big change in the Anglican church and he reflected on his time of 35 years in the ministry. His first was celebrated in St Peters in Vauxhall in London. A big farewell is planned for him on his final day with us.
There was a big thank you for all who assisted with the Art Exhibition. The net income raised was £1,886 which was an increase of £117 from last year. The Monday afternoon also featured two displays by some Historical Dancers.
A Strawberry Tea was held and Fr Nicholas was able to attend this. The visitor this month was to be Sue Morgan to talk about – “Help for Heroes”.
News from Stanway Green Lodge
It was commented that Midsummer’s was with us and now passed and the home had celebrated the opening of the Alpine Rockery. This included a water fountain feature. However the visiting squirrels do continue to pose problems. Angela attended to celebrate National Cupcake Day. Cynthia gave another of her reminiscing afternoons.
