From the vicar
The first celebration of the Eucharist of the month of November will be on All Souls Day on the second. It is a month of remembering. All the Saints on the 1st, Gunpowder Plot on the 5th, Armistice on the 11th and Remembrance this year on the 12th. Remembering is a fundamental part of the Christian Life.
MacMillan Cancer Support
A big thank you to all who attended on Thursday 28th September and a sum of £170 was raised.
The speakers this time were Marjorie and David and of course we cannot forget Arthur, who is a six month old German Shepherd Puppy. He is under training to be a fully fledged guide dog. The couple who came are Puppy Walkers for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and gave us a detailed talk on training.
News from Stanway Green Lodge
They had a visit recently from Hazel who brought along some plants and from Frank who came from “Pat a Dog” charity along with their owner Amanda. On the cooking front, they had made corned beef hash. The home had also had a mention on BBC Essex as part of the Roman River Music Festival. They had entered in their competition of “Living Room Live” and were announced as the winners on the Ronnie Barbour show. There had been discussions about Singer Sowing Machines, of which everyone seemed to have had one.
Harvest Festival Flowers
Appeals were made for help by Jennifer with the harvest flowers. They once again gathered to prepare, although sadly at this time, they were four less than normal.
