From the Vicar
The programme for the Evensong services had been published with visits to St Barnabas - Old Heath, All Saints – Shrub End, St Albright’s - Stanway, St Leonard’s – Lexden and St Mary’s – Wivenhoe. He also spoke of the good moments of recent times of England’s success in the Football World Cup and and the bad problems with Russia and the poisoning in Salisbury in Wiltshire.
The monthly meeting had seen a visit by the people from the Colchester Food Bank who did so much good work in the town. The speaker told the members how it had begun and what it achieved. Also mentioned was how Sandra had become a grandmother and Jane had celebrated her Golden Wedding Anniversary.
News from the Stanway Green Lodge
The home had recently had a visit and inspection from the CQC. Everything was said to be good. Proceeds from their annual summer garden party had seen £300 sent to the “Help from Heroes” charity. They had also had a visit from the mayor and his wife. Numerous other people had also been to the home and Bernard had been to entertain them and line dancing had been done.
