Fr Nicholas recalls that he was only six when the Cuban Missile Crisis took place in October 1962 so he had no real recollections of it. Since then many other big problems are occurred throughout the world.  

 

Thursday Afternoon Group

They had made donations to Water Aid, Alzheimers’ Society, the Colchester Hospital’s Charity for their “Time Garden” Appeal.

 

Mothers’ Union                                                    

There was no branch meeting this month, but mention was given of an event at Chelmsford cathedral on Monday 6th November.

 

Harvest Celebrations

Thanks were given for all who contributed towards the cost of the flowers.

 

Christian Aid

Details were reported of the various monies donated from various sources in the year, although house to house was £600 down, our giving in the church, reduced by £30, the overall figure of £18,481.16 was £900 up on last year.

 

News from Stanway Green Lodge

Weather has been mixed recently so they had a movie afternoon at home instead and latterly got involved in harvesting some of their crops.
