CHURCH MAGAZINE – JUNE 2017

Vicar’s letter

Father Nicholas thanked all who had helped with the recent Art Exhibition. This saw many local artists exhibit their talents, whilst at the same time raised much needed income for the parish (approx. £1,300 plus £250 from the May Fayre). On June 15th it sees the great day of the thanksgiving for Corpus Christi.

Mothers’ Union

Unfortunately Brenda was unable to attend the last meeting which saw a form of our usual worship followed by refreshments. In June on Wednesday 7th, they will be holding a strawberry tea in the Annexe at 230pm with a cost to members of £4.50. For those who have the Mothers’ Union magazine, the subscriptions are now due at a cost of £10.50.

News from Stanway Green Lodge

After a long break from visiting the coffee afternoon at All Saints, they ventured there again with the weather a lot warmer. Mavis and Moreen returned home praising what they had seen there. Father Nicholas also gave them a guided tour of the church. The home also had a visit from Lillian Lace who provided the residents with some entertainment, singing away to some good old fashioned East End singalongs and also the Iceni Academy continue to support them too.

“Little Tinkers” – Baby and Toddlers Group

This new group began to meet on January 11th and meets every Wednesday in St Cedd’s Church Hall between 10am and 12 noon. It began with twenty attending and numbers have varied with recent weeks seeing numbers nearly 50. Several volunteers have helped and the name of the group was selected by the mothers attending. After the closure of the group at Shrub End Sports Centre run by Barnados, a helper from there has joined the team as have some of their members.
