CHURCH MAGAZINE (MAY 2014)
A review of the magazine
From the Vicar
I write this letter on Good Friday having just celebrated the Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord, a very special act of worship which never fails to move me and I believe many of the people who attend it. Tomorrow we will be singing Alleluia again as we celebrate Our Lord's resurrection for the dead and rejoicing in the hope it offers to each one of us.
Easter speaks to us clearly of the love of God for each one of us and of hope for the future.
This year the Annual Parochial Church Meeting took place before Easter and I am happy to say that for the first time a several years we have two Churchwardens to look after the Church building and it's contents and to provide Lay leadership within the Parish. We wish John and Robin every blessing for their coming year in office.
At the beginning of May we will be staging, once again the Annual Art Exhibition, very much a feature of Parish life in Shrub End and a chance to celebrate and enjoy the many and varied talents that exist in Colchester and beyond. This year we have more artists than ever who wish to exhibit with us and we will be welcoming the Mayor and Mayoress of Colchester to open the exhibition on Thursday 1st May.
Also this year on the Friday night the Exhibition organisers have secured the talents of two local artists, Brian and Reg, who will be giving a demonstration of their talents and techniques. As is always the case the success of the art exhibition also depends on the willingness of volunteers to give of their time over that weekend, in the past that commitment has always been forthcoming and I have no doubt it will continue this year.
Wishing you all a truly joyful Eastertide
Your Priest and Vicar
Fr Nicholas
